Belz Museum Collections

Founded in 1998, the Belz Museum of Asian and Judaic Art is home to a collection that spans the art of many cultures and time periods including: Chinese art primarily from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), contemporary Judaica, a selection of natural history objects and various examples of art and craft from around the world.

Diversity is reflected in the many objects on display at the museum. Sculptures carved from Chinese jades and other hard stones in the late Qing Dynasty, tomb figurines and statuary made during the Tang Dynasty in China, European art glass, Russian lacquer boxes and modern Jewish ritual objects represent the craft traditions of different cultures.

Visitors to the museum find themselves amazed at the museum’s hundreds of stunning pieces of art - a large portion of which includes rare examples from the Qing Dynasty - the last great dynasty of ancient China.

Artwork from this dynasty was created by artisans and craftsmen who spent many years perfecting each piece to convey the patronage of the Qing Court. The result is some of the most exquisite treasures the world has ever seen. And some of the greatest examples - finely detailed artwork in jade and semiprecious stones, ivory, and cloisonné - can be seen at the Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art.
